AI-Generated Content & Disclosures
What the AI does: MarkYourBible offers optional AI-assisted study tools — including a concordance and cross-reference helper, passage summaries, study questions, and on-demand translation of the interface and Scripture helps. When you use these tools, the AI generates text suggestions to support your study.
What data it uses: The AI processes only the text you actively submit (such as a verse reference, a passage, or a phrase to translate). It does not read your private notes, prayers, or account details unless you paste them into an AI tool yourself. Submitted text is sent to our AI provider solely to generate a response and is not used to build an advertising profile.
How to control it: AI features are optional. You can study, read, mark verses, and use the community without ever invoking an AI tool. Simply choose not to use the AI-labeled buttons if you prefer not to generate AI content.
Guardrails: Our AI tools are instructed to stay within a respectful, Scripture-focused scope and to decline requests for harmful, hateful, or defamatory output. AI responses are study aids and may contain errors — always verify against Scripture and trusted counsel. Please report any inappropriate AI output using the contact details below.
Deleting Your Account
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account page inside the app. Deletion removes your profile, notes, bookmarks, study progress, prayers, reading plans, and community content. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve MarkYourBible. This includes saving your study progress, notes, bookmarks, prayers, and reading plans so you can pick up where you left off across devices, and displaying the community content you choose to share. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
User Content, Community & Moderation
When you post to the community, comment, share an insight, add a public prayer, chat in a study room, or leave a review, that content is visible to others. We provide tools to report objectionable content, block abusive users, and an automatic filter that screens submissions for offensive language. Reported content is reviewed within 24 hours and removed if it violates our guidelines. You can hide or delete your own content at any time.
Cookies and Local Storage
MarkYourBible uses cookies and browser local storage to maintain your session, remember your preferences (such as dark mode and preferred translation), and enhance site performance. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, but some features may not function properly without them.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Third-Party Services
MarkYourBible relies on a small number of service providers to function: our cloud hosting and database provider, our email delivery provider for sign-in links and notifications, and an AI provider that powers the study tools. These providers process data only to deliver their service and are bound by their own privacy commitments. We do not share your data with advertisers.
Data Retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data — including your notes, bookmarks, progress, prayers, and community content — is permanently removed from our systems. Aggregate, non-identifying data may be retained for analytics.
Your Rights
You may access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time. Account deletion is available directly inside the app on the Account page, and it removes your account and all associated data. For any other privacy request, contact us using the details below.
Children’s Privacy
MarkYourBible is intended for a general audience who wish to study the Bible. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can promptly remove it.
